Veneers in dentistry are thin, custom-made shells designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve appearance. They are typically made from porcelain or composite resin and are bonded to the teeth to enhance their colour, shape, size, or length. Veneers are often used to correct issues like stained, chipped, or misaligned teeth.
There are two main types of veneers:
- Porcelain veneers: These are durable, stain-resistant, and provide a more natural appearance. They typically require a small amount of tooth enamel to be removed for proper placement.
- Composite resin veneers: These are less expensive than porcelain and can be applied directly to the tooth surface in a single visit. However, they may not last as long or be as stain resistant as porcelain.
